Leamington's Community Choir

Who We Are

Founded in 2022 by Linda Blunt, and with the continued assistance and support from Carol Jones and Claire Hartlebury (Treasurer), the Admin Team strive to ensure that Leamington Singers remains a welcoming, fun and energetic community choir.

·      We rehearse on Thursday evenings at St Nicholas' Church, Radford Semele during school term times.

·      Uplifting and friendly weekly rehearsal sessions where we learn the new songs together.

·      All arrangements are carefully prepared by our musical director for all abilities and voices who love to sing,           socialise and have fun together.

·      No auditions for entry and no age restrictions – just a love for singing is needed.

·      We learn by ear and memory, so non music readers are very welcome.  We have practice rehearsal tracks on           our website to allow you to practice in-between sessions if you choose to.

·      We rehearse from 6.00pm to 7.15pm.

·      We accept new members throughout every term and offer a free taster session for those who like to try                   before they decide to join us.

·      As we are a community choir we try to keep our termly costs to a minimum.  Please ask a member of the                 Admin Team for full details of payment arrangements.

Our Musical Director - Harvey Brough

Composer and performer, Harvey is one of the UK’s most accomplished and diverse musicians.

He sang as a chorister at Coventry Cathedral before studying at The Royal Academy of Music and Clare College, Cambridge.

Following on the international success of his group, Harvey and the Wallbangers, he has worked as a freelance performer, arranger, conductor, producer and composer.

Long before community music became popular, Harvey regularly brought together the finest professional musicians with complete beginners, both children and adults, to perform his compositions with remarkable results.

For the past thirteen years he has been composer and director of Vox Holloway, collaborating closely with the choir’s founder, Justin Butcher, and producing exciting concerts that often include familiar choral works, but mostly creating new, innovative and eclectic programmes. Many of these have been recorded, including Music on the Mind, Freedom Song, The Sun Does Shine and a new choral and orchestral arrangement of the Kinks’ 1968 album, The Village Green Preservation Society, by invitation of Sir Ray Davies for the 50th anniversary.

In 2024, he collaborated with the great Jerry Dammers to produce a choral version of The Special AKA.  The Specials were not just a band, but a movement, campaigning for political and social change, something that resonates strongly with Harvey and with Vox Holloway.

Since 2012 Harvey has been the Turner Sims Professor of Music at the University of Southampton where he also teaches a module in Community Music.

In 2025 Harvey started a new choir Vox Populi, in Leamington Spa and has  recently been invited to direct the Leamington Singers from September.
